After much prodding from Nick to take photos of my entire collection of wood type, I finally lugged everything up to my den and laid it out. It ended up being a fun and rewarding experience. Most of the time I only deal with one portion of my collection at a time, so to see them intermingling was fun and enlightening. The mass of contrasting styles and sizes was another reminder of how much I love this stuff and fortunate I am to have the blocks in my collection.

The larger type is harder to keep tidy and organized than the smaller sets.

The Antiques and the Moderns are getting to know each other.

The photo shoot was also a good opportunity for me to get reacquainted with my mixed sets of type. Some are stored away in boxes and unfortunately, out of sight and out of mind. It was also a reminder of just how prolific the gothic set is. The type stacks 3 deep in that box! Overall, it was a great look back on the past few years of my life and the hobby that’s grown into a monster. It’s also an amazing glimpse into typographic, printing and american history.

Words cannot describe my love for this K

Love it…and a little jealous of your collection. :) Just found your blog through Post Family. Keep up the good work.
