About

The EndGrain was born out of my desire to have some sort of letterpress website, but it took quite some time before the site took on this form. I was frustrated by the lack of sites dedicated to letterpress and I wanted a place I could go and just gets lots of great examples of letterpressed works and hear from others who shared my passion for wood type. Over time, more sites about letterpressed works have come around, and if I was going give the idea a shot, I needed to shift my intended focus. In working on some school projects I fell in love with how beautiful wood blocks can be on their own, and I decided that could be the niche for the EndGrain. In addition to being a growing directory and aggregator for wood type and letterpress works and information on the web, the EndGrain features my humble collection of wood letters. I also want to use the blog as an opportunity to do experimental printing with my type and to do a little digging into the history of the different typefaces.
