EndGrain: Latest post

Here is a wonderful F on this Fabuluous Friday. I only have two or three blocks in this style, and I wish I had more. It’s definitely the thickest typeface I have, I’m not sure something this hefty would work on anything other than a sans serif. The difference and size and length between the top and middle arms is fantastic, and the counter space between them is so tiny yet effective. I’m definitely on the hunt for more of this typeface.

This is an endgrain block, but it has these really prominent vertical stripes going up and down. If you look close and squint, you can see the contours of the wood grain running perpendicular. There’s some glue remnants on this block from where it was used as decoration, thank goodness that was amended. The router mark can clearly be seen between the two arms. The wood is a nice dark color, which is just the cherry on top. I need to do more research into the woods used and their color properties, I would like to be able to identify that for the blocks I have.
