There are several Vs from the modern poster lot, each just slightly different than the next. This one has a very wide inner counter space, and might have been hand carved, as evidenced by the irregularities along the edged of the face. Many of the blocks from this lot that were simpler letterforms with straight edges were hand carved. The Vs from this style always look a little out of place to me. They have that odd curve at the base to differentiate them from the uppercase U. This trait has carried over into digital manifestations of this style, like Turista Gorda and Futura Display.
This block is still uncleaned and dusty, I can’t wait to clean it and see what colors lie underneath. You can see there’s a bit of a deep blue peeking through in several places. The hand finishing on the bottom of the inner counter is quite obvious, and the curve seems a little uneven. I’ll have to pull a proof to tell for sure.
