This is a petite little 8 from a mixed lot I purchased 2 years ago. The wood has a great, rich color, and I love it when splotches of ink are still on the face of a letter when the rest is spotless. The founder, Peter Fraterdeus, has a great portfolio of thoughtful and finely printed designs. No details in the production process are skimmed over in their work. Mr. Bob Pointkowski emailed me yesterday and pointed me to the lovely work of Mrs. Jennifer Farrell’s Starshaped Press, located in Chicago. When I was first looking through the site, I assumed some of the work was photopolymer plates, because of the large vareity in typefaces. However, I was pleasantly surprised to read the process page, where they reveal that all of the type is either wood or metal. Incredible! ...
