This block is so geometric and graphic, it’s one of my favorite shapes. The negative space is really fascinating. I love how the middle arm of the E is so truncated, how it pushes up against the huge serifs on the top and bottom. It’s like they are blocking it in. I don’t think the block would be nearly as interesting if those serifs weren’t as prominent.

There’s a chip taken out of the lower right corner, the wood that this set was made from is extremely fragile. There is still quite a bit of red ink left on the face, you can see where I’ve tried to clean it on the vertical stroke, with little success.
